Statutory holidays 2027
Third Monday of February. A statutory holiday in Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and New Brunswick. Other provinces hold a February holiday under a different name (Louis Riel Day, Islander Day, Nova Scotia Heritage Day); Quebec and the territories have none.
Manitoba's third-Monday-of-February statutory holiday.
Prince Edward Island's third-Monday-of-February statutory holiday.
Nova Scotia's third-Monday-of-February statutory holiday.
A statutory holiday in every province and territory. In Quebec the employer designates either Good Friday or Easter Monday as the statutory holiday.
Not a statutory holiday for most workers. It is an optional general holiday in Alberta, an alternative to Good Friday in Quebec, and a paid day for the federal and several provincial public services.
The Monday preceding May 25. Not a statutory holiday in Quebec (which observes National Patriots' Day instead) or in the Atlantic provinces (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, P.E.I., Newfoundland and Labrador).
Québec observes National Patriots' Day (Journée nationale des patriotes) on the Monday preceding May 25, in place of Victoria Day.
A statutory holiday in the Northwest Territories and Yukon only.

First Monday of August. A statutory holiday in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. Widely observed elsewhere (often as a municipal or optional day — Civic Holiday in Ontario and Manitoba, Natal Day in Nova Scotia) but not a statutory holiday there.
An optional general holiday in Alberta (first Monday of August); not a required statutory holiday.
A federal statutory holiday, and a provincial/territorial statutory holiday in British Columbia, Manitoba, P.E.I., Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. In Manitoba it is also known as Orange Shirt Day. An optional general holiday in Alberta; observed for the public service (but not all workers) in several other provinces.
Second Monday of October. Not a statutory holiday in the Atlantic provinces (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, P.E.I., Newfoundland and Labrador), where it is commonly observed but optional.
Observed across Canada, but a paid statutory holiday only in some jurisdictions. In Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba and Nova Scotia it is governed by separate legislation and is not a statutory holiday under employment standards.
A federal statutory holiday and a provincial statutory holiday only in Ontario. An optional general holiday in Alberta, and a public-service holiday in some other jurisdictions.
